That's it folks. Officially my project target has been reached and what a way to finish it all off with stranger #100 Debbie. I was with the family on a weekend visiting the Kent coast. We had a day out on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurh Railway and it turned out that they were holding a period history day with different themed events at each station. Dymchurch station was showcasing the 1940's and the main aim there was for us to get a themed 1940's hairdo for my little daughter at the "Hair Raid Shelter". While my little one was getting her hair do, I noticed Debbie who was one of the other hair dressers, all dressed and made up to fit the theme. Debbie and her gang are actually from Colchester in Essex and specialise in these events. Check them out on http://www.hairaidshelter.co.uk/. The project is now officially over and it was a great way to finish off. I am especially pleased because the very 1st Stranger (Pippa) was taken in Romney which is just down the road from Dymcurch where 100th Stranger (Debbie). This project has gone all over the UK and it's great to finish it off pretty much in the same place where it started. Full circle and closure. Thanks Debbie. A fitting way to end off.

Nearly there with the project. This is Liam from Chesterfield, well, actually from Australia living in Chesterfield. I spotted him at Sheffield station on his way to work in Rortheram. I was on my way to my last ever meeting in Sheffield at my work, having been made redundant. Not a bad thing. It just means I'll take the summer of, spend more time with the family and make more photos.
On a recent holiday in Yorkshire UK, I was staying at a caravan park in Richmond where I spotted a couple which didn't quite fit the profile of the usual Caravan Club member. I knew I had to ask them to be a part of my project and i was not wrong. Paul and Charlotte, from Edinburgh, had only recently just bought their caravan and were taking a slow journey to France to attend a Gypsy music festival. As it turns out, Paul is a musician, currently a member of four bands. I looked him up and apparently he is a lead guitarist with High Voltage and Union Avenue. Charlotte is a tattoo artist and I believe she specialises in the Japanese style. Here's her website http://www.venusflytraptattoo.com. It turns out that her Mum Jane Brettle is a renowned photographer in her own right. A very interesting couple and I was so pleased to meet them.
A repeat of the lesson from Stranger #86. Always have a camera with you. Alan on my way to a meeting and saw him in the station car park and Herge an a different day, but this time on my way home on the train. The finishing line is definitely in sight.
This is actually made up of 3 images. One of the background, one of the blue swishy lights and one of the man sitting on the bench. How did I do this? The blue lights are made from sticking a RGB strip light on a stick, then take a long exposure shot (30 sec) whilst walking down the path swinging the light stick as I walk. Next is the man. To do this I got a passer by to model. I asked him to sit still on the bench whilst I traced his outline with a torch. This was also a long exposure shot of 30 sec. The 3rd shot was a background (long exposure shot once again) so that I could get the general scene in. Finally, take all three images and blend them in Photoshop using the "screen" mode. I'll get better at this, but I'll call this my favourite of the month because I didn't just take a photo, I made a photo and it took time and effort. I was at Center Parcs for a brilliant mid week break with the family. I sneaked out for an hour while the missus and little one were pottery painting. This is when I spotted Andy and asked to take his photo. He runs a B&B with his folks in Scarborough and was wandering around the Parc Village when I stopped and asked him if he would be a part of my project. |
